International Women's Day: The Trouble With Women

I work with a lot of women. Busy women, happy women, capable, intelligent and amazing women.

Women come to me for coaching usually between the stages of "Bring it on!! I can take on the world!" and "Oh my God enough already" and wonder what to do next.

They think they need to fix something, or that they are broken.

They strive to be great; a great mom, partner, friend, businesswoman, daughter, or community leader. The rewards are amazing and thrilling and disappointing and exhausting and at times, completely overwhelming.

Is this because they aren't capable? No.

Is this because they care too much? No.

Is this because they don't believe in themselves? Not a chance.

It's the depth to which they dive into all things. The instincts that are honed to feel deeply, know deeply and invest deeply in everything they take on. No half-measures, no room for failure.

I am one of these women.

Not surprisingly, the result is that we are imperfect. Fallible. Works in progress. Humble and open-minded and strong. This also makes us tired, thrilled! cranky... exhilarated, and mostly, it makes us amazing and unstoppable women.

This is what I celebrate this International Women's Day about my clients, my colleagues, my sisters, myself.

We are not broken; we don’t need to fix ourselves. We are a force and we will keep bettering this world, leading the charge at home and at work, being fiercely passionate in our beliefs in each other and what we are capable of. We do things all the way, all in, and to the limit. And there is no other way I'd have it.
