Success Has Changed
The definition of success.
If you read last week’s post and have done the worksheet, you will have a better idea of how you can narrow what your reality is now, what ideal looks like, and what manageable is.
It is natural to think and say, “but before covid, I ….” or “last year was so much better because”.. but is it helpful?
It is never going to be “before covid” again. That time has passed. It’s sad, it’s angering, it’s frustrating and unbelievable in so many ways, but it’s the truth.
So now you need to reprogram your thoughts.
Things are different. Think different.
What is success to you NOW?
How do you know you’re getting there?
If you don’t define some milestones on the way to your new definition of success, you could fall into old habits and hold yourself to old markers that no longer apply.
Here’s an example of new definitions:
Rather than climb, your new definition of success may be to maintain your role for the next 18 months.
Rather than cram in a certification course this year, your new goal might be taking one online course and while managing 3 kids homeschooling.
Reset the definition, reset the milestones. Then, try it out and see how different the world looks through a lens of action that is applicable to your reality.
Is it fair? No, it probably isn’t. But it is your reality to either accept or stay stuck in and feel less than successful.
What choice will you make?
